To accurately understand death, we must look to God’s Word and not human traditions. God designed the body, soul, and spirit to live together, not apart from each other. Soul is the life force of the body and all its cells. God gives us a portion of His spirit when we are born again. So, when a person dies, their soul ceases to exist and their spirit “returns” to God.
